A Partial Denture Can Be Used to Replace the Basic Function of Teeth That Could Not Be Restored by Endodontic Therapy

Sometimes untreated tooth decay or a severe oral trauma can badly damage multiple teeth. In many of these cases, the first treatment option is to have a dentist attempt to treat the teeth by performing multiple root canals. Sometimes one or all of the compromised teeth might be too severely traumatized for effective endodontic therapy.

In a case like this, the only viable treatment option is for one of our experienced dentists, Drs. Andre, Hall, and Muncy extract the remnants of the roots and suture your gums. One easy way to replace the appearance and basic function of these missing teeth is to have our dentist fit you for a partial denture. This removable dental appliance is essentially an abbreviated version of a complete denture. The represented artificial teeth will be set on a pink medium that mimics the appearance of your underlying gums.

Depending on the location of the partial denture in your mouth, it might also include locking hardware to connect it firmly with the teeth neighboring the void.  At the same time, many denture wearers also like to apply a small bead of denture adhesive to the base of the unit to help bond it tightly in place.

When you come to the end of the day you’ll need to rinse your partial denture and give it a light brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush nonabrasive toothpaste.
